Baseball Update

The Woodward Academy baseball team has been playing all summer to good crowds in their first varsity season.  Now that we enter into the July 4th weekend, Iowa high school baseball is coming closer to ending we thought it would be a good idea to give you some information on how the season is progressing.  We will recap the season more fully in the next edition of the Knightly Knews (printing later this summer).  In the mean time, here are some pictures and notable stats.

Read more after the break.

The Knights opened the summer with their first varsity win versus Nodaway Valley.  Since then, the team has marked up 7 wins that included a 20 run outing against East Greene and a rebound victory versus cross-town rival Woodward-Granger who they lost to earlier in the season.

A quick look at some notable stats from the season thus far:
- Nick Brcka - 17 strikeouts vs. Nodaway Valley
- Fabian Castellon - .338 batting average on the season
- Derrick McCormick - .424 on base percentage

The district tournament begins next weekend at Ogden.  To see more pictures from the baseball team, visit our Knight Pics website by clicking here.
