WCAC Coach of the Year

Congratulations to head cross country coach Jason Anderson on his being honored as the WCAC Cross Country Coach of the Year. This honor continues a season of accolades for the XC team that has included being ranked in the top 10 in the state in Class 1A, earning a record number of 2nd place finishes in very difficult races, and just last week winning the West Central Activities Conference meet both as a team and where Juanito Hernandez was crowned individual champion. The 2012 season continues later this week at the State qualifying meet in Ottumwa. Learn more about Coach Anderson and the cross country program after the break.

As the Program Director of Woodward Academy's Highly Structured Program, Anderson was the first cross country coach at WA when he started the high school athletic in 2006. He qualified Academy teams to the State Meet in his first two years, setting a standard for the sport.  After taking some time off while serving our country and being deployed overseas, Anderson is back coaching again for the 2012 season and has been doing so with great success. Committed to structure and runners being dedicated to the sport, Anderson is constantly pushing WA athletes to push themselves further than they imagined.
